New Items

I knit alot but like to work on small, great things that can be accomplished quickly like the mini purses that have fortunately been very popular. I just came up with a new item and I'm calling them Soap Sacks. Those tiny slivers of almost used up soap that slip through your fingers? Hate throwing them away? Have some small, sample bars that are also too small? Place them inside the Soap Sack and you've got soap as well as an exfoliating scrubber. I made one for my husband and he loves it! They're made with 100% cotton and can be washed and dried without shrinkage. A great gift idea is to buy some wonderful soap from the amazing soap makers on etsy and pair it with a sack!
This cotton is wonderful and versatile. I've made some bibs with it as well as washcloths and dish towels. They wash beautifully. Currently, it's my thread of choice! Color requests are welcome.

Just sold some on etsy and listed 2 new colors:

Etsy and Postage and Shipping, oh my!

Well, I blew it again! Estimating shipping costs is very tricky and an inexact science. Sure, I could take dummy boxes to the PO and get weights and prices but that's not terribly practical when you may be selling items of multiple sizes and weights. My things range from a light bookmark

to a heavy clock like this one.

I had a package go out to Norway a few weeks ago that I had 'guessed' would be $32 and it was $33...not bad. Today I had to mail a clock to England and my guess was $10 but in fact it was $14...ooops. You certainly don't ask the customer for more money.

That coupled with the upcoming postage increase in the US forced me to revisit all 98 items in my shop and re-guess the shipping costs. A slow process at best. I'd rather err on the high side and refund money when it is a substantial amount. Most of all, I'd rather make sales and have this be my problem!

A feature..........

Am I famous? I think not, but Heather from KinichiRiver wrote about me on her blog. Very cool! Thanks, Heather for my 45 seconds!!!

Heather is quite talented and diverse as well. She makes something so elegant like this anklet:
And then a whole gang of wonderful, whimsical sock dolls like Ivah. Doesn't she make you smile? Heather's little stories are great, too. Check her out.

Revolution Money Exchange

Many etsy folks are now using RME in addition to PayPal. I gave it a deep look and it seems on the up and up. They do not charge transaction fees like payPal. Plus if you sign up before the 15th, they GIVE you $25 in your account. It takes 2 minutes plus there's a referral program where you can get paid for new signers.
To accept this payment method a buyer has to choose "other" as their form of payment. Then the seller will need to send a request for the funds to the buyer. They will have to pay the "invoice" that you send. Just a few simple steps to not have to pay PayPal's transaction fees...defintitely worth it. Check it out. There's a widget on the right, 2/3 of the way down or click the link.

Custom Orders

I just received a custom order from a repeat customer and I thought it was a great idea. I have made dozens and dozens of the little mini purses. They have so many uses. It originated with wanting to carry my own Sweet 'N' Low packets. They are business card size, can hold your own tea bags and store cards. They have been used as a presentation for a gift card. Place lip balms or first aid needs inside as well. They will even hold a small cell phone, too.

My customer wanted one to hold her medical cards and information. Here's the piece and I hope she's pleased. I love custom orders!!! Send me your ideas.

Where is Spring?

Last week we had a day in the 70s followed by 3 in the 40-50 range, one 70+ and now 3 straight of rain in the 40 to 50 range again...ugh! We desperately need the rain as we're in serious drought mode BUT rain AND 40 degrees in late March/April in SOUTH CAROLINA? Global warming? I think not!

Here's a bit of man made spring...
